Flammable Limits in air % by volume Lower -6.7% Upper 36.5%
Auto-Ignition Temp
Extinguisher Media Carbon dioxide, Dry chemical, Foam, Water fog
Special Fire Fighting Procedures For small fires, use dry chemical, carbon dioxide, alcohol resistant foam or carbon dioxide. Use water spray to cool fire-exposed containers. Water may be ineffective. For large fires, use water spray, fog or alcohol-resistant foam. DO NOT use straight streams of water. Use a blanketing effect to smother fire.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards Containers can build up pressure if exposed to heat and/or fire. As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. Water runoff can cause environmental damage. Dike and collect water used to fight fire. Vapors can travel to a source of ignition and flash back. During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases may be generated by thermal decomposition or combustion. FLAMMABLE LIQUID. Can release vapors that form explosive mixtures at temperatures above the flashpoint. use water spray to keep fire-exposed containers cool. Water may be heavier than air. May be ignited by heat, sparks and flame. Remove all individuals from area who are not properly trained in fire fighting.

Section VI - Health Hazards

Danger! Flammable liquid and vapor. Causes respiratory tract irritation. Harmful if inhaled. This substance contains methanol which has caused adverse reproductive and fetal effects in animals. May cause central nervous system depression. May be absorbed through intact skin. POISON! Cannot be made non-poisonous. Causes eye and skin irritation. May be fatal or cause blindness if swallowed. May cause digestive tract irritation with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. May cause liver, kidney and heart damage.
Target Organs Kidneys, heart, central nervous system, liver and eyes.
Signs and Symptoms of Exposure:
Eyes Will cause eye irritation which causes a burning sensation, redness, tearing, inflammation and possible corneal injury. May cause painful sensitization to light.
Skin Absorption May be absorbed through the skin in harmful amounts.
Skin Contact Will cause moderate skin irritation. Prolonged or repeated contact may cause defatting of the skin and dermatitis.
Inhalation Harmful if inhaled. May cause adverse central nervous system effects including headache, convulsions, and possible death. May cause visual impairment and possible permanent blindness. Causes irritation of the mucous membrane.
Ingestion May be fatal or cause blindness if swallowed. May cause gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. May cause systemic toxicity with acidosis. May cause central nervous system depression, characterized by excitement, followed by headache, dizziness, drowsiness and nausea. Advanced stages may cause collapse, unconsciousness, coma and possibly death due to respiratory failure. May cause cardiopulmonary system effects.
Chronic Effects Dermatitis may be caused by prolonged or repeated skin contact. Chronic exposure may cause reproductive disorders and teratogenic effects. Laboratory experiments have resulted in mutagenic effects. Prolonged exposure may cause liver, kidney, and heart damage.
Emergency and First Aid Procedures
Eyes Flush with large amounts of cold water for at least 15 minutes. Do not let victim rub eyes. Occasionally life upper and lower eyelids. Contact a physician immediately.
Skin Wash affected area with soap and water. Do not reuse clothing soaked with this product until laundered. Discard all leather articles which have been soaked with this product. If irritation develops, contact a physician immediately.
Inhalation If inhaled, move to fresh air. If victim has difficulty breathing, give oxygen. Do not provide mouth to mouth resuscitation. If breathing has stopped, apply artificial respiration using oxygen and a suitable mechanical device such as a bag and mask. Contact a physician immediately.
Ingestion If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything to an unconscious person. Induce vomiting by giving one teaspoon of syrup of Ipecac. Contact a physician immediately.
  Oral LD 50 240 mg/kg Human

Section VI - Special Precautions / Spill & Leak Procedures

Handling Avoid getting this material in contact with your skin, eyes and clothing. Wash hands after handling and before eating. Ground and bond containers when transferring material. Do not breathe dust, vapor, mist or gas. Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing. Empty containers retain product residue, (liquid and/or vapor), and can be dangerous. Keep container tightly closed. Avoid contact with heat, sparks and flame. Use only in a chemical fume hood. Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind, or expose empty containers to heat, sparks or open flames.

Store in closed containers in a cool, dry well ventilated area. Maintain closure of bungs. Keep this product away from open flames, sources of heat and ignition sources. Keep face clear of tank or tank car openings. Do not store in aluminum or lead containers.

Do not reuse container. Avoid container damage while storing.

Spill & Leak Response Do not allow spilled material to enter sewers or streams. Scoop up with a non-sparking tool, then place in a suitable container for disposal. Use water spray to disperse the gas/vapor. Remove all sources of ignition. Add dry material (such as diatomaceous earth, dry clay or sand) to absorb (if large spill, dike to contain). Do not use combustible materials such as saw dust. Provide ventilation. A vapor suppressing foam may be used to reduce vapors. Water spray may reduce vapor but may not prevent ignition in closed spaces. Using recommended protective equipment, pick up bulk of spill and containerize for recovery or disposal. Flush area with water to remove residues.
Waste Disposal All recovered material should be packaged, labeled, transported and disposed or reclaimed in conformance with Good Engineering Practices. Comply with all applicable governmental regulations. Avoid land filling of liquids. Reclaim where possible. Product contains methanol which is a RCRA U-Series waste (waste number U154).

Section VIII - Special Protection Information

Respiratory Protection If workplace exposure limit is exceeded, use a respiratory program that meets OSHA's 29 CFR:1910.34 and ANSI Z88.2 requirements for European Standard EN 149.
Protective Gloves Wear appropriate rubber gloves.
Eye Protection Chemical goggles or a full face shield. Do not wear contact lenses.
Other Protective Wear Wear impervious, protective clothing including rubber safety shoes to avoid prolonged or repeated skin contact.
Work Practices Read label for instructions in use of product.
